Ever since the movie came out in 1999, I have loved The Matrix, but I never thought of it as a blueprint for organizations.
Over the past six weeks, the Corporate Rebels Masterclass taught me how self-management is achieved with small autonomous teams. Gone are the layers of management. Each team follows the purpose of the company but makes its own decisions, hires the people that are needed, and perhaps even share profit.
The Nebuchadnezzar isn't much different. It is one of many ships that all follow the same purpose—although I couldn't exactly tell you what that purpose is. They recruit their own crew members, set their own course and decide whatever needs deciding. They even upgrade skills when needed and when their leader is captured a new leader is chosen. And let's not forget about the assembly of all ships to align and exchange knowledge.
What other movies about self-management do I need to watch?
